Mortal Shell II FAQ

All Questions

When does Mortal Shell II release?

August 20, 2026, unlocking simultaneously worldwide at 10:00 AM Pacific (1:00 PM Eastern, 6:00 PM UK). Devout Edition buyers got up to 72 hours of advanced access starting August 17. Full regional table on our release page.

Is Mortal Shell II co-op or multiplayer?

No. Mortal Shell II is a single-player game — the Steam listing carries no co-op or multiplayer category. The searches about co-op stem from the first game's community wishlist, not any announced mode.

Is Mortal Shell II on Game Pass?

No day-one Game Pass release has been announced. The game launched as a standard paid title ($49.99) on Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If that changes post-launch we will note it here.

How big is the download?

The Steam listing requires 70 GB of free space and an SSD is mandatory. Preloading during advanced access is the safe play on slower connections.

Does open beta progress carry over?

No — beta saves do not carry into the full game. The beta covered the opening region (through Magdalena, Lady of the Woods) and its 9 demo achievements were separate from the main achievement list.

How long is Mortal Shell II?

Cold Symmetry has not published an official length. The open beta's opening region ran 3-5 hours for most players; we will update this answer with verified completion times during launch week.

Will it run on Steam Deck?

The minimum spec (RTX 2060 Super class GPU, 16 GB RAM, SSD) sits above Steam Deck hardware. No Verified rating is listed at launch — treat Deck play as unconfirmed until tested.

Are there mods?

No official mod support at launch. The first game built a small scene on Nexus Mods, and early cheat-table pages already exist for II — but nothing sanctioned. We do not cover mods until the scene stabilizes.
